Quick Announcement #1

There won’t be a new episode this week. My whole family is sick again, and I have a theory as to why it’s happening. My son was born right before the pandemic started. Since he’s lived his whole life in lockdown, the poor little guy never got a cold. His immune system has never really experienced the unfiltered outside world.

Now that the lockdowns are ending and everyone is interacting again, colds are spreading like normal. My son keeps getting colds and giving them to his sister. She keeps giving them to us. So, no new episode this week.

However, there is a new patrons-only episode this week. If you are a patron, go to Patreon to find that episode. You can also get the patrons-only episode in the same app where you subscribe to the regular Novel Marketing episodes.

In this month’s patrons-only episode, we cover the following topics:

  • Teaching online courses
  • How to grow your online author community
  • How to sell through bookstores as an indie author
  • Legal issues related to your book’s setting.
  • The best WordPress plugin for Google Analytics
  • The best way to collect email addresses on your website
  • And more

If you’re not a patron, now is a great time to become a patron and support the Novel Marketing podcast.

Quick Announcement #2

While you’re waiting for the next episode, check out AuthorMedia.Social. We already have 400 authors in the community sharing tips, asking questions, receiving answers, and getting feedback on covers and copy. If you haven’t checked out AuthorMedia.Social, you owe it to yourself to join. It’s free.

I announced this New Social Network for Authors a few weeks ago, and since then, I’ve added two new sections.

New Collaboration Section

I created a new section for collaboration. You can post your invitations to collaborate on the following:

  • Cross-promotion for books
  • Newsletter swaps
  • Guest blogging opportunities
  • Invitations for guest bloggers
  • Co-authoring a book or project

It’s a non-monetary way for authors to work together. It’s been fun to see authors connect and support one another.

New Deals Section

I’ve always wanted to curate a coupon site for authors where I could collect deals from around the Web and offer them to authors. I often find discounts on software and tools like Scrivener, ProWritingAid, and KingSumo, and I want to share them with you.

I liked the idea so much that I bought the domain name authordeals.com. I had planned to run a business around it, but it turned out to be more than I could handle. With my new social network, I figured I could still have a deal space where I can post the discounts as I find them or as people send them to me. Right now, we have a bunch of fun deals listed.

I updated the list as I find the deals, and I also try to remove them as they expire. Consider it a coupon site specifically for authors.

I’m sorry there’s no new episode this week. There should be an episode next week. I’m working on the outline, and I’m really excited about it. I’m just running behind because being sick is one thing. But being sick while your children are sick is something else entirely.

Thanks for understanding. Come visit AuthorMedia.Social in the mean time.
