About Author Media


While still in college, Thomas Umstattd founded Umstattd Media in 2007. Umstattd Media focused on building websites for Authors and small businesses.

In 2009, Thomas launched AuthorTechTips.com an award-winning blog to help authors with marketing and technology.

In 2011, AuthorTechTips.com became AuthorMedia.com.

In 2012, Author Media became part of Castle Media Group, LLC.

In 2013, Thomas Umstattd Jr. & James L Rubart launched the Novel Marketing Podcast, a podcast that is now the longest running book marketing podcast in the world. That same year, Author Media Kickstarted and released the MyBookTable WordPress Plugin.

In 2014, Author Media kickstarted and released the MySpeakingEvents and MySpeakingPage plugins.

In 2015, Author Media released the MyBookProgress plugin and MyBookTable 2.

In 2016, Author Media kickstarted and released MyBookTable 3.

In 2017, Author Media & Novel Marketing released the 5 Year Plan Course

in 2018, Novel Marketing joined Patreon, and Author Media started providing podcast production services and released MyBookTable 3.1. 

In 2019, Author Media sold the MyBookTable, MyBookProgress, MySpeakingEvents, and MySpeakingPage plugins to Stormhill Media.
