Author Media is a team of expert web-designers, social media managers, and coders who are dedicated to making online platform building easier for writers. We believe that websites should be more than online brochures, yet simple enough for anyone to learn to update.

Meet our team

Thomas Umstattd Jr., CEO

Thomas built his first website at the age of 13 and has been helping people with the web ever since. Thomas is an award-winning speaker on the subject of marketing and technology.

Samantha Fagan, Designer

Sam built her first website at the ripe age of 12 (beat ya, Thomas!). Being a HTML/CSS goddess, she’s now tackling all-things-Wordpress.
She does design work for Umstattd Media as well as coding and support.

Hannah Hill, Director of Customer Happiness

Unlike Thomas and Sam, Hannah’s geek-streak lay dormant until the worlds of politics and blogging united to call it out. After volunteering for a political campaign for Rick Green, an Umstattd Media client, she came on board Umstattd Media and has never looked back.

Hannah works from her home in the hills of South Carolina, where you can usually find her heading up the Account Manager team, guiding clients through the website process, or blogging about politics at InHenrysWake.com. You can follow her on Twitter @HannahHill_SC.

Hilary Combs, Designer

If you call in or come by and see us at Author Media, chances are you’ll be greeted by Hilary, eager to assist you and set you at ease. One of the more recent additions to the team, Hilary brings her design skills to the mix. A previous freelance graphic designer, she enjoys making your site visually engaging and professional. Katherine Suess, Website Support

Despite her last name, Katherine Suess is of no relation to Dr. Seuss (note the spelling difference), though she doesn’t mind the perennial question when it gets asked.  To make things even more confusing, she decided to become an author herself!

Katherine joined the team in 2011. She heads up website support for our clients and is proud to be the only female member of the Development Team.

Jim Camomile, Lead Developer

When Jim came to Author Media, he came with a  successful website design company and years of experience in the industry.

In 2004, Jim founded Blue Dove Website Design. When the company was acquired by Author Media in 2011, Jim joined the team as the Developer Lead. Jim is an expert in web design, search engine optimization, video production, web marketing, and podcast production/syndication.

Caitlin Muir, Social Media Manager

Caitlin is a believer in the power of Story to change lives. After getting her degree in Journalism, she learned that there was more to Story than words. She’s added photography and video producing to her arsenal, using Social Media to connect with others and share stories. She joined Author Media as a Social Media manager and coach.

Caitlin is an aspiring novelist, single’s columnist, and full-time social media junkie.  She writes about her adventures in life, love, and faith on CaitlinMuir.com. You can connect with her on Twitter @ScribblingHappy.

Leah Ledbetter, Account Manager

Leah is no stranger to the world of electronics. While she wouldn’t call herself a “technophile”, she has a healthy appreciation for technology. Leah is an Account Manager at Author Media. She talks to authors to find out what they want and what they need in their new author website. Once she has that question answered, she works on building their new website.

 Brian Morgan, Developer

What exactly does Brian do at the office? Just about anything except make stuff pretty. He’s proud to be the only one in the office powered by the ugly, but speedy Linux operating system.

Brian started at Author Media as an intern, but moved to work part-time as a developer to pay for school. He also juggles martial arts, writing, debate coaching, and his studies in Computer Engineering at the University of Texas, Austin. He blogs at  BrianFactor.Wordpress.com

Tim Zook, Developer

Tim is an enthusiastic programmer and web developer. He is fluent in multiple programming languages and works around the clock to learn more. He’s an example of loving what you do and doing what you love.

When he’s not working, Tim is studying at Austin Community College. His dream is to be a game programmer. Our dream is to keep him on board forever so he can help us design web pages that will delight millions.
